We are not your typical insurance agency. That is intentional.

About Buell Insurance

Most insurance agencies measure success by how many policies they write. We measure it
differently — by how much money we save our clients, how prepared they are for a compliance
review, and whether the advisory work we do together is actually showing up on their bottom line.

Buell Insurance — a different kind of commercial agency.

Buell Insurance is an independent commercial insurance agency based in Libertyville, Illinois,
serving business owners across the country. We focus exclusively on commercial accounts —
employers who need an advisor who understands not just how to place their coverage, but how to
manage it, reduce its cost, and keep their business compliant with the regulations that come with it.
We work across the full range of commercial insurance lines — workers compensation, general
liability, commercial property, commercial auto, umbrella, professional liability, and more. What sets
us apart is not the lines we write. It is what we bring alongside them: a suite of compliance and
cost-reduction services that most agencies simply do not offer.
Most business owners are dealing with OSHA recordkeeping requirements, experience modification
factors that affect their workers comp premium, HR compliance gaps, return-to-work obligations,
and regulatory exposure across 22 different areas. Most insurance agents are not equipped to help
with any of it. We are — and we provide all of it at no cost to our clients.
That is the difference. We are not just placing policies. We are running a compliance and advisory
program around every account we serve.

There is a better way to serve business owners than the standard quote-and-renew model most
agencies run on. The typical approach is straightforward: shop the market at renewal, present a few
options, bind the coverage, and move on to the next account. It works well enough as a business
model. It does not work well enough for the client.
What weI kept seeing was business owners paying more than they should on workers
compensation — not because they were unsafe, but because nobody had ever sat down and
explained how the experience modification factor actually works, or helped them build a process to
manage claims differently, or reviewed their OSHA records before an inspector showed up.
That gap is why we pursued the Certified WorkComp Advisor designation. It is why weI invested in
compliance and cost-reduction tools that weI provide to clients at no charge. And it is why Buell
Insurance focuses exclusively on commercial accounts rather than trying to be everything to
everyone.
We are not the right fit for every business. But for employers who want an advisor who digs in,
stays involved, and measures success by outcomes rather than premium volume — I think we are
exactly what you are looking for.

What the CWCA designation means — and why it matters to you.

The Certified WorkComp Advisor (CWCA) designation is awarded by the Institute of WorkComp
Professionals, the nation’s largest network of workers compensation specialists. It is not a
participation certificate. It requires completing a rigorous training program in the technical and
strategic aspects of workers compensation — experience modification factors, claims management,
return-to-work strategies, premium audits, and cost-reduction methodology.
Fewer than 2,000 insurance professionals in the country hold this designation. Most insurance
agents — even experienced ones — have never been trained in how the experience mod is
calculated, what drives it up or down, or what specific actions can reduce it over time. A CWCA has.
For you as a business owner, that means one thing practically: when we sit down to review your
workers comp program, we are not guessing. We know what to look for, we know how to read the
numbers, and we know what levers actually move the needle on your cost
